Servicing: Ki Discus Testing

NSP Laboratory Services now carry out Ki Discus testing. Ki Discus testing is considered to be a world leading technology in the testing of Biological Safety Cabinets.

Ki Discus is used to assess operator protection, product protection and cross contamination within Class I and Class II Microbiological Safety Cabinets.

Ki Discus testing provides no bacterial contamination risk of the safety cabinet and no bacterial contamination of the laboratory.

A potassium iodine test is carried out by the Ki Discus. This testing was part of the British Standard BS5726-1992, which then became the foundation of the European Standard BSEN12469:2000.

Ki Discus is recommended for new installations of Microbiological Safety Cabinets and for the moving of existing cabinets. It is also recommended if any changes are made to a rooms environment, i.e. if the doors or windows are changed, or if there are adjustments made to the air conditioning units.
